About Me
![]() Born and raised in the Philadelphia area, I currently live in Berlin, Germany after having lived in Los Angeles for more years than I ever imagined (I leave that to your interpretation as to whether that is a good thing or not). After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Temple University’s School of Communications and Theatre and thinking I wanted a career in advertising copywriting, the call of screenwriting became too strong and I picked up and moved, knowing no one, having no job or place to live. I consider myself to be sensible and level-headed. Go figure.
Shortly after, I was hired for a couple of projects, including writing the family film, Kid Cop, which has aired on HBO and ABC Family networks, and was the featured film in the KidFest film festival. More recently, my comedy screenplay, @santa, won first place in the 2011 Holiday Screenplay contest. As a member of the Los Angeles Writers Center, I continue to write plays, screenplays, and freelance web articles. And, of course, travel has become a passion resulting in The Ensuite Life: Traveling the World and Avoiding the Toilet at the End of the Hall, the first of what I hope to be many more. -Michael Barmish |
